How to apply to live with us
We are delighted that you are interested in applying to live in our almshouse accommodation at Morden College, either in Blackheath or Beckenham. To apply, please follow the steps below:
1. Check whether you are eligible to be a resident
Please check before you apply that you meet the criteria to be a resident at our almshouse. You can apply to be a resident if you:
- are 50 years or over
- receive a UK state pension or welfare benefits or are eligible for these
- are in immediate need of housing and impacted in finding housing because of financial hardship
- cannot afford to buy or rent an equivalent sized property in your local area
- do not own a home (including a second or ‘holiday’ home)
- have had a profession, vocation, or trade* OR are a widow, widower, and civil or co-habiting partner of someone who had a profession, vocation, or trade OR was married, co-habiting, or in a civil partnership with someone who had a profession, vocation, or trade
- are willing to participate in the almshouse community
2. Register your interest in applying
Please register your interest by completing the application form which you can download below and sending it to admissions@mordencollege.org.uk
If you are unable to complete the form online, we can help you to complete it. Please call our Resident Services Team on 020 8463 8342 or visit us at the John Morden Centre, 19 St Germans Place, London SE3 OPW or Ralph Perring Court, Stone Park Avenue, Beckenham BR3 3LX.
3. Visit
If you meet these requirements and there is a current or future vacancy, we will invite you to visit us and have a look around the almshouse.
4. Interview
If you wish to proceed, you will then be invited to an interview with our Chief Executive Officer, Meryl Davies.
